1. How long have you been working with MailChimp?

This is important to know because MailChimp is a massive platform and while there are often many ways to accomplish any one goal, there is usual one best way. And only years of experience can give you the depth of knowledge required to know the difference.

ChimpChamp’s Answer:

We have been working with MailChimp since last 2009. We originally used MailChimp as a client and build a tight integration with the platform using the MailChimp API. We then offered to turn our integration into an open source ruby gem as part of MailChimp’s Integration Fund project.

MailChimp funded this development and subsequently invited our founder to their first ever “Super Users” Conference. At this conference, Dustin was asked to join the MailChimp Experts Directory in 2011. He accepted and founded ChimpChamp. We have been serving MailChimp clients ever since.

2. How many MailChimp clients have you worked with?

This is important because every project is a learning experience that informs the next project to run more efficiently and more smoothly. Again, bumbling through a project may get it done in the end, but gliding through a project with grace gets the goals achieved with the least frustration and leaves room for serendipity.

ChimpChamp’s Answer:

As of September 2015, we have helped 409 unique clients! Many of these clients have done multiple projects with us, so it would be an understatement to say that we are by far the most experienced Expert in the entire directory.

3. How many projects like mine have you done?

This is crucial because every project is different and experience with one type of project does not necessarily translate to success on a different type of project. What you want is someone who’s worked on one of more project as much like yours as possible.

ChimpChamp’s Answer:

Obviously, this depends on what your project is. But over the course of hundreds and hundreds of different types of projects, it’s very likely that we’ve done one very similar to yours. Schedule a free consultation with our company founder to discuss the specifics of your project.

4. Why are you doing this work?

This one is not so obvious, but if you think about it, it really makes sense to ask. Do you want to work with someone who’s just trying to pay the bills any way they can? Or do you want to work with someone who’s passionate about helping entrepreneurs find greater freedom in their lives?

ChimpChamp’s Answer:

We are passionate about freedom. Everyone who works for ChimpChamp works from their own home on their own hours. Our company founder started ChimpChamp because he loves MailChimp and sincerely wants to help as many people as possible use it to expand your business and gain your own (or greater) freedom in your life!

5. What’s your background?

This is another crucial question to ask because you don’t want to work with someone who has no real world, hands-on experience. How can someone consult in your business if they haven’t run their own? If all they’ve ever done is make templates, that’s fine. But if they have a breadth of experience in all aspects of online business they can offer you advice that will improve your business in ways you never even thought of.

ChimpChamp’s Answer:

Every member of our team has a deep background in their area of specialty, whether it be design, WordPress, web development, PHP or Rails. Dustin has an extensive and diverse background in all aspects of internet business. He’s been building successful web businesses since 1995 and has built and sold dozens along the way. He’s been responsible for everything from website design to email marketing, sales funnel optimization to marketing automation, SEO, social media, video marketing, long form copy writing, and everything in between.

There is no doubt that the depth and breadth of our experience and knowledge will prove to be a valuable asset to the success of your business.

6. Are you willing to give me a free consultation?

This one should be obvious, but it bears stating explicitly… You need to be able to do a trial run before making a commitment. Anyone who believes in their ability to provide you with high-quality service should be willing to give you a free 15-minute consultation. If they know what they’re doing, you can get a lot done in 15 minutes. And if they’re in demand, they won’t be able to spare more than this.

ChimpChamp’s Answer:

Absolutely! Dustin is willing to spend 15 minutes on the phone with you as absolutely no charge and with zero obligation discussing your specific project goals and needs. Dustin is regularly able to provide solutions on this call that negate the needs for any further assistance. Read the reviews on our Expert Profile and you’ll find at least a dozen from people thanking him for free advice that saved them time and money.

If your project requires more hands-on support, we can offer you a tailored package to serve your needs. Schedule your call today to see how we can help you.
